How do I get to the Snowbowl? 

You can get to the Snowbowl by car or by bus. Click here for more information and details on getting here.

What days is the Snowbowl open? 

  • Middlebury Snowbowl is open Wednesday through Sunday from 8:30am to 4pm.
  • We are closed on December 25th, but open on holiday Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Open holiday Mondays & Tuesdays 2022-23:
    • Dec 26 & 27 
    • Jan 2 & Jan 16 & 17 
    • Feb 20 & 21

What are the roads like?

What are the reasons the Snowbowl would not open on a regularly scheduled day?

We take the safety of our guests and staff very seriously. We reserve the right to close due to:

  • Poor weather conditions.
  • High winds that inhibit safely operating the lifts.
  • Icing conditions on the mountain making it unsafe for patrons and staff.

Parking

Parking is free and on a first come first serve basis. Please consider wearing appropriate shoes for slick conditions in the parking lot.

Lifts & Carpet

When do the lifts operate / run? 

  • Sheehan Chair Lift operates from 8:30am – 4pm weekends and holidays
  • Worth Mountain Chair Lift operates from at 9am- 4pm weekends and holidays
  • Bailey Falls Chair Lift operates from 10am – 3pm when conditions allow.
  • The Carpet (conveyor lift) operates from 10am – 3pm.

Do I need a lift ticket to use the carpet?

  • The Carpet is free to use. You do not need a ticket to use the carpet, however should you want to ride the lift you will need a lift ticket.

Why is the Carpet not running?

There are times when you might find the carpet not running. The reasons for this can be: 

  • No one is using the carpet. When this happens we will shut the carpet down to save on energy.  We will gladly get the carpet running, please stop inside the lodge either at the ticket window or the Snow School window and let them know that you would love to use the carpet.
  • Precipitation – can make the carpet surface slippery. When these instances occur we will shut the carpet down.
  • Programs – when the Snow School has a large group of students we may close the carpet area to the public.
  • For regular and important maintenance.
    • visit the website for regularly updated conditions and status.

What is the grooming schedule? 

  • The trails are groomed every evening / morning when the conditions allow.
  • There are times when the snow moisture and or temperatures do not allow us to groom and provide you with a good surface. We do our best to provide / preserve the best surface for you to enjoy.

  • Generally speaking – we will not make judgment of safe or unsafe travel conditions – this is up to the individual to make.

Tickets & Group Sales

Can I purchase a ticket ahead of time?

Currently we are only selling day lift tickets on site. Season passes can be purchased on our website. 

Will you sell out?

We do not limit our daily ticket sales. However, there are a limited number of of Indy and passes available.

I lost my season Pass…what now?

If you lose your season pass we encourage you to keep looking! If you still can’t find your pass, we can reprint your season pass for a small fee.

  • When does the half day start?
    • During peak season half days are from 8:30am – 12:30 and 12:30 – 4pm
  • What is your senior age?
    • Senior tickets are sold to guest who are 65 years and older.
  • Does my lift ticket allow me to “uphill ski” as well?
    • Uphill ski tickets are sold separately.
  • Do I need a lift ticket for the carpet?
    • The Carpet is free to use. You do not need a ticket to use the carpet, however should you want to ride the lift you will need a lift ticket.

Share-cards

  • Where do I pick up my snow-share card?
    • Snow-share cards can be picked up at the front desk. DO NOT LOSE YOUR SHARE-CARD. They are non-refundable and non-replaceable.

Indy Passes

We are an Indy Affiliate mountain. Please have your ID ready to show us when you purchase your ticket

Ski VT Goldpass, Vouchers, or Passport

To speed up your time at the ticket window please email us your Goldpass, Voucher or Passport prior to coming.

Rentals & Retail

Rental and Retail shop location

The rental and Retail shop is located in the same building as the lodge, and is accessible through its own entrance located to the left of the main lodge entrance.

Do I need to reserve rentals?

Ski and Snowboard rentals are available on a first come first serve basis. You can not reserve rentals in advance.

Can I get multi-day rentals?

Yes, you can get multi-day rentals. You can rent for as many consecutive days as you like which saves you having to come in each day to be set up again. If you rent 4 consecutive days the 5th day is free.

Can I pick up rentals ahead of time?

We do not allow early pick up of rental equipment.

Do you offer skis for children 6 and under?

Yes we have skis as small as 70 cm and ski boots as small as 16.5 (Toddler size 7). If your child is lighter than 30lbs or smaller than a toddler size 7 boot we recommend using the free loaner strap on skis available at the snow school desk.

Do you offer childcare?

  • We are a small family friendly mountain.  Our facility does not offer child care.  We do have a family area for small children in the upstairs of the lodge.

How do I contact the Snow School (I cannot reach the Snow School?)

  • The Snow School desk is available from 8:30-3:30 from Wednesday to Sunday.
  • If you cannot reach someone at the Snow School desk – it is most likely that we are either on the phone or working with customers at the window.  Please leave us a message or call again.  We answer messages chronologically. At busy times it may take us a few days to get back to you.  We appreciate your patience.  If you do not hear back from us within 3-4 business days then please call us again.  
  • HOPEFULLY THIS CAN SOMEHOW BE RESOLVED…. JUST SAYING….
    • Do we need to lobby for a snow school assistant that is responsible for going through and filtering the backlog of voicemails?

Do you have food?

  • We have a cafe that offers a variety of pup fair and in-house soups that are made daily. 

Do you have a bar?

  • We serve a limited variety of beer, wine and cider. 

Do you recycle?

  • We take pride in Middlebury Colleges efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, reuse as many materials as is safe and recycle as much as possible. Thank you for your help in these efforts and using the correct receptacles in the lodge.

The Borrows

Established as safe distancing huts during the Pandemic of 2020, The Snowbowl is happy to repurpose these cozy huts for groups up to 8 to enhance gatherings and celebrations.  The Borrows are located just steps away from away from the main loge and are available to rent during the ski season, Wednesday through Sunday
