Now that I have registered – what now?

Yay! Welcome you to the Middlebury Snowbowl Snow School. We are so excited you have decided to earn your PE credit with us.

Once J-Term registration closes and upon completion of your registration requirements, you will receive an email with instructions regarding lesson attendance, picking up your rentals and how to sign up for your 5 lesson times. Stay tuned…..

  • Non Financial Aid Students: As soon as the class registration closes, you will receive a link to sign up for your 5 lesson times.
  • Financial Aid (FA) Students: Your request will be submitted to the Financial Aid office. They will let us know what level support you have been awarded and the award is based on your current financial aid status. Once all is set you can sign up for your 5 lessons times.

I applied for Financial Aid – what now?

All financial aid applications must be reviewed by the Financial Aid office. The Snow School will be notified once your application has been reviewed as to the level of FA you will be receiving. We will then be sending you an email and let you know.

I am a FA recipient – can I apply for FA?

Yes, if you are a Financial Aid recipient you may apply for FA for the J-Term lessons at the Snowbowl.

Need to pick up Rentals?

The Snowbowl rental shop is located on-site at the Snowbowl. Please allow at least a half hour for rental set-up and pick up each lesson.

How do I sign up for my lesson times?

We will be sending you a link to a google sheet on which you can sign up for your lessons. Please only sign up only for 5 lesson times.

The sign up sheet will be able to be edited until 11AM the day prior to the lesson.

Why do I need to check in prior to each lesson?

Just like taking classes on campus, your attendance is required to receive your PE credit. Not checking in could result in you not receiving your PE credit. Please come and check in at the Snow School desk with one of our staff for each lesson.

How can I get to the Snowbowl without a car?

No car? No worries. Tri-Valley Transit shuttle bus traveling right to the Snowbowl which leaves and returns to campus from the ADK Circle all of J-Term. Click here for the Tri-Valley Transit bus schedules and choose the Snowbowl Shuttle.

The Snowbowl is located about 13 miles to the east of the campus in the Town of Hancock. Please allow sufficient time to get to the Snowbowl.

What if I cannot make my lesson?

You can edit the sign up sheet until 11 AM the day prior to the lesson, after that the sheet will be locked for editing. If you need to cancel your lesson after this time you must email or call the Snow School (between 8:30 AM – 4 PM) to let us know and state your name, program name (J-Term lessons) and a phone number to call you back.

Any notification received after this time frame may result in a “no-show”.

Not showing up for your lesson when I have signed up?

We base the number of instructors on the fact that you have signed up. If you are renting equipment the rental shop reserves and prepares your equipment to your specifications prior to your arrival. Choosing to be a “no-show” for a lesson you have signed up for, results in you forfeiting your lesson. To receive PE credit you must attend four out of five lessons. This means you are permitted one un-excused absence, any further no-shows disqualifies you from receiving PE Credit.

What to wear?

Windproof clothing is best • Warm non-cotton base layers • Windproof / Insulated snow pants and coat are great. • Windproof insulated gloves or mittens • Neck warmer • Helmet (helmets can be rented at the rental shop) • Thin wool socks are best and give you the best fit in the boot.

How will I receive my PE Credit?

Once you have completed your four out of five lessons you have finished the necessary requirements to earn your j-term PE Credit. The snow school administration will notify the PE department that you are eligible to receive credit

Refund policy?

Refunds can only be given before J-Term registration closes.

Any J-term attendee who wishes to withdraw from their lessons, will not be issued a refund once J-Term lessons have begun.

In the event of illness or injury which requires you to withdraw from the J-Term lessons, you must present us with a letter from your doctor’s office in order for you to receive a refund or a partial refund.

No refunds will be issued after April 1st.
